Quartz

Quartz watches have at the heart of their operation a quartz crystal that vibrates at 32,768 times per second. This very high frequency of vibration has allowed watch makers to attune time more accurately. As a result of this revolution which occurred in the 50s and has been perfected since, quartz watches are among the most accurate and reliable. The power source of the quartz watch has traditionally been and continues to be the battery, although many variations have been sought by individuals with an inquisitive mind. One of these variations included the use of solar power cells, which never succeeded on its own as solar power cells do not function at night. A battery compromise has always seemed to lead the way. Another invention was the kinetic converter method, or sort of dynamo which made quartz watches just a little more mechanical. This has also failed to bear fruit.

Today, quartz watches remain second in preference to Automatic as the mechanics still enchant the curiosity of customers beyond their need for accuracy.
